Baby Dolls

Baby dolls are a very popular choice of plaything today. So popular, in fact, that many might assume that they are among the first types of dolls to be produced. In fact, they first appear in the eighteenth century. This is three centuries after the first known commercial production of any form of dolls.

Children often enjoy baby dolls because it allows them to pretend to be parents. For that reason, creators of such toys often focus on developing more and more realistic designs. For instance, a lot of research has gone into creating realistic skin textures. They may also respond to specific actions with particular verbalizations.

There are many accessories for baby dolls. Some come with the particular design, while others must be purchased separately. Diapers, bottles, and clothing usually come with a doll. Items which may require separate purchase include additional outfits, strollers, and highchairs.
